Vera Coleman-Foreman

People of Power and Purpose was founded 7 years ago by a dialysis patient, Vera Coleman-Foreman whose journey with kidney disease began in 1995. She started in-center hemodialysis 11 years ago and has been a home hemodialysis patient for the past 3 years. Since Vera began this journey as a kidney patient, while raising her two children, she has overcome many adversities in life including a painful divorce, the passing of her two brothers, mother, only sister, close friends, dialysis chair mates, along with many surgeries and hospitalizations. In the mist of all of these events, she founded and was President of the Space City Chapter of the AAKP (American Association of Kidney Patients, www.aakp.org), and facilitated monthly support group meetings, outings, and an annual holiday "'Celebration of Life" party.

Through adversity and pain, Vera has maintained her belief in the power of positive thinking and faith. Vera's passion for life and for helping people has inspired many throughout the years. The philosophy of People of Power and Purpose was founded on Vera's strong zest and appreciation for the gift of life, love of God and his people, strong faith, and the continued development of that faith through positive thinking, self empowerment and advocacy through education, resources and support, in order to preserve and enjoy life to the fullest regardless of the ever changing situations and how things may appear, but rather hold fast to the belief that joy really does come in the morning!! So, Don't Give Out, Don't Give In, and Don't Give Up!!!
